Blue Ridge is a small community of 862 people (2011 estimate) located at the intersection of State Highway 78 and Farm to Market Road 981 approximately 48 miles from Dallas, Texas. As a city of less than 1,000 inhabitants, Blue Ridge’s current extraterritorial jurisdiction spans a half mile from the city limits. According to the US Census Bureau, Blue Ridge has a total area of 3.2 square miles,. We are considered to be within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the northeastern portion of Texas. Blue Ridge is one of 27 cities located in Collin County.
